Aichi-Nagoya, Sept 21:
India continued its strong start to the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, adding another silver medal on the second day of competition.
The trio of Himanshu Dhillon, Parth Mane and Rudrankksh Patil secured the silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle team event. The medal further strengthened India’s early medal tally after the contingent had already won two silver medals in shooting on the opening day. India also has guaranteed medals in mixed martial arts and women’s cricket.
India’s table tennis players produced a dominant performance in the women’s team event, defeating Pakistan 3-0. The Indian team controlled the tie from the outset and completed a comprehensive victory.
India also began its Sepaktakraw campaign on a winning note, defeating hosts Japan 2-0 in the opening match. India won the two games 15-13 and 15-9.
In swimming, Srihari Nataraj qualified for the men’s 50m backstroke final after finishing third in his heat in 25.37 seconds. He qualified in joint ninth place among the top 10 swimmers who advanced to the final. Rishabh Das finished fourth in the same heat with a time of 25.41 seconds and was placed among the reserves for the final.
