Fair to say that Allegri’s Napoli have had a disappointing start to the season, collecting two wins, two defeats and one draw in the opening five Serie A games.
After their 1-1 away draw at Fiorentina on Sunday, Allegri could not hide his frustration as the Italian tactician admitted his team will have to do “much more” when the campaign resumes in three weeks after the international break.
Napoli’s seven points in the opening five games of the season mean the Partenopei are off to their worst start since 2015-16.
Back then, Napoli had collected six points in five rounds in Maurizio Sarri’s first season.
Napoli also lost their opening Champions League match against Arsenal at the Stadio Maradona earlier this month.
After the break, the Partenopei will host Frosinone at the Stadio Maradona. Massimiliano Alvini’s team are unbeaten in the last four games and have collected ten points so far, three more than Napoli.
