There was panic in Delhi on Monday morning when at least 6 schools received an email containing a bomb threat. As soon as the threatening email was received, the school administration informed the police (Delhi Police). After this the police and other security agencies became active. In view of security, the concerned school premises were evacuated. Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and dog squad have been sent to the spot. Teams are investigating the school premises and surrounding areas. It has been told that in the threatening email it has been said that Delhi will be made 'Khalistan'. Police are trying to identify the source of the email and the person sending the threat.
What was said in the threatening email?
In the threatening email it has been said that schools of Delhi will be targeted. The email also warned to avoid traveling in trains going to and from Delhi between September 21 and 29. In this, threats have also been made regarding the railway tracks coming from Punjab to Delhi. According to the information, four schools including Sanskriti School, The British School and Navy Children School in Chanakyapuri area received the threat email around 9:30 am on Monday. As soon as the email was received, the school administration informed the police and fire department. After this, security agencies reached the spot and took necessary security measures. Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and dog squad were deployed to check school premises.
What did the police tell?
According to Delhi Fire Service, five calls related to bomb threat were received in schools on Monday morning. These calls were received between 9:41 am and 11:11 am. The first call came at 9:41 am from Mother International School, Hauz Khas. After a search operation was conducted on the premises, the threat was found to be fake. After this, at 10:34 am a call was received from Navy Children School located in Chanakyapuri regarding bomb threat. The third call came at 10:50 am from Bal Bharti School located in Rohini Sector-14.
According to the police, information related to threats was also received from Springdales School, Salwan Public School and Bal Bharti Public School of Rajendra Nagar police station area and St. Thomas School and Juniors School of Karol Bagh police station area. Apart from this, information has come to light that Civic Center falling under Kamla Market police station area has also received a similar threatening email. Security agencies are conducting investigation and search operations at all places.
Panic due to bomb threat, agencies alert
As soon as information about the threat was received, fire brigade vehicles and personnel were sent to the spot. Many police teams also reached the respective schools. Bomb disposal squads, sniffer dogs and other security agencies conducted search operations in the school premises and surrounding areas. However, no suspicious object was found during the investigation. Based on preliminary investigation, the police suspect that the threatening emails may be fake. Despite this, all necessary precautions are being taken in view of security and efforts are being made to trace the source of the email.
Have received many fake threats this month
The trend of receiving threatening emails to schools and government establishments in Delhi is not new. This month also many institutions have received similar threats. On September 15, several prominent schools including Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, The British School, Air Force Bal Bharti School and Carmel Convent School had received bomb threat emails. At the beginning of the month, many schools and government establishments including Delhi Assembly, Civic Center and Mayor's Office had also received bomb threat emails.
