New Delhi, 21 September 2026: Maintaining its excellent performance in the Asian Games 2026, the Indian women's hockey team defeated Indonesia by a huge margin of 17-1 in its second match of Pool B. Deepika Sehrawat and Rutuja Pisal were the star performers from India in this one-sided match played on Monday. Earlier, in its first match, India had also defeated Uzbekistan 19-0, in which Deepika had scored a record 8 goals. In the 8th minute of the match, Deepika opened India's account by converting a penalty corner with a brilliant drag-flick. Then Sunilita Toppo (11th minute), Lalremsiami (13th minute) and Rutuja Pisasale (15th minute) scored goals, so that at the end of the first quarter, India was ahead 4-0.
In the second quarter, Lalremsiami scored his second goal in the 16th minute, while Rutuja made the score 6-0 in the 20th minute. Then Sakshi Rana (25 min), Deepika (28 min) and Sunilita (30 min) scored through penalty corner, making India's score 9-0 at half-time. Till half-time, India had 55 percent possession of the ball. The attack by Indian players continued in the second half also. Sukani Salima Tete (34 minutes), Navneet (35 minutes), Ishika (36 minutes), Rutuja (39 minutes) and Deepika (40 minutes) scored the goals. Ines Adiyita scored the only goal for Indonesia in the 32nd minute. In the final stages of the match, Navneet (56th and 57th minutes) and Sakshi Rana (57th minutes) added more goals to make the final score 17-1. The Indian team has maintained its dominance in the pool with two consecutive big wins.
