Dadasaheb Phalke Award:Indian cinema’s prestigious 72nd National Film Awards was held today, 22 September 2026 at Ekta Nagar, Kevadiya, Gujarat. President Draupadi Murmu honored the winners with National Awards. This time, veteran actor Anant Nag was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. In his 5 decade long film career, Anant Nag contributed to the cinema field by acting in more than 300 films.

President Draupadi Murmu invited actor Anant Nag on the stage and honored him with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
In a career spanning more than five decades, Ananth Nag has made his mark especially in Kannada cinema as well as Indian cinema. He made his strong place among the audience and the film industry by playing different types of characters.
Actor got emotional
The actor said emotionally in his speech-“I am trying to understand and feel the grandeur of this program. I am very happy to be among you all today. You have seen me performing as an actor. You must have seen some of my glimpses also. My childhood was spent in an ashram – till the age of 12. I got a chance to act in a play in Mumbai.”
