New Delhi, 23 September 2026: England's star fast bowler Mark Wood had announced his retirement from international cricket. He had given the news of his retirement through a social media post. Wood, who has played in all three formats for the England team, said that he has taken this decision on the basis of medical advice. This English bowler, who was troubled by frequent injuries, said that Test and 50 over cricket is no longer suitable for him.
During his 11-year long international career, 36-year-old Mark Wood played a total of 146 matches across all three formats; During this period, he won one World Cup and four Ashes titles with England. He made his debut in international cricket in 2015.

Wood further wrote, “Playing for England has been my biggest honor and a dream come true. The child in me is overjoyed to have played so many matches for England. Traveling around the world, meeting amazing people and playing against the best players, I feel extremely lucky to have done all this because I have been doing what I love so much.”

Wood played 38 Test, 70 ODI and 38 T20 international matches in his career. He took 119 wickets in Test and 80 wickets in One-Day. In T20 international matches, he took 54 wickets with an economy rate of 8.45.
