Jamui. In the viral video case of misbehavior with a minor student in Jamui, Bihar, the police has intensified action against the absconding accused. On Tuesday, Nandan Yadav, who is said to be the main accused, had an encounter with the police. During this time, there is information that Nandan was shot in the leg. The other accused, Hare Ram, who was present with him, also got injured in his leg and information about its breakage has come to light. Both were brought to Jamui Sadar Hospital for treatment. Bihar Police's ADG Law and Order KS Anupam has confirmed the police action.
According to the police, on the evening of September 19 in Jamui, a minor boy and girl were stopped on the road and they were allegedly subjected to indecent behavior and the girl was molested. After the video of the incident went viral on social media, the police took the matter seriously and started action. During the investigation, the accused were identified and till now three accused had been arrested, while some other accused including the main accused were said to be absconding.
A Special Investigation Team i.e. SIT has been formed to investigate the case. Police have registered a case under relevant sections and POCSO Act. According to the ADG, action will be taken under the law against those whose role will be revealed in the investigation. The police are also investigating aspects related to the location of the incident, activities of the accused and police patrolling arrangements in the area at that time.
Police have also taken action in the matter of circulating viral videos on social media. An FIR has been registered in the cyber police station against around 120 social media profiles that shared the video revealing the identity of the minor victim. Police have also appealed to people not to share material that reveals the identity of a minor.
At present, both the accused are being treated after the police encounter. The search for other absconding accused in the case and investigation into the complete circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
