'If 3-4 matches go bad…', Gambhir broke his silence on putting Vaibhav on the bench, gave a sharp statement

Delhi: 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is in great form, but despite this he is not getting a consistent place in the playing-11 of the Indian T20I team. Even in the recent series against Afghanistan, Vaibhav had to sit out and Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma opened the innings.

Now the head coach of the Indian team, Gautam Gambhir has told that he himself has spoken to Vaibhav and explained to him that he will have to wait for his turn.

Gambhir explained to Vaibhav

Coach Gambhir admitted that despite being in good form, it is difficult for any player to remain out of the playing-11. He told Vaibhav that players who have been performing well for a long time cannot be dropped suddenly after a few bad matches.

According to Gambhir, Vaibhav will have to wait for his turn. He also made it clear that the team's playing-11 is not decided on the basis of social media or outside discussions.

Why are Sanju and Abhishek getting continuous opportunities?

Gambhir said that the playing-11 is decided jointly by the captain and the coach. In this it is seen which player can make the team win the match and who has performed well for a long time.

For this reason, at present the team management is moving ahead with the opening pair of Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. Gambhir further said that if Vaibhav is included in the team, then he will have to decide to drop either Sanju or Abhishek.

'Can't ignore the performance of one and a half to two years'

Gambhir made it clear that it would not be right to exclude Sanju and Abhishek on the basis of poor performance in just three-four matches. Both of them have performed well for the team in the last one and a half to two years and that is why the team management is with them. That means, the reason for Vaibhav not getting a chance is not his form, but the current opening combination.

Gambhir said – not popular, right decision is necessary

Gambhir said that it is easy for him to take a popular decision, but it is more important to take the right decision. According to him, at present, staying with Sanju and Abhishek is the right decision for the team.

In this way Vaibhav will have to wait for now. The Indian team management has faith in the current opening pair, while the wait for Vaibhav's next opportunity continues.
