There is deep anger and grief among the resident doctors and students after the untimely demise of Junior Resident Doctor Dr. Ranresh Yadav while on duty in the Anesthesiology Department at AIIMS Jodhpur on September 22. After this incident, the resident doctors have announced to start an indefinite strike by placing four major demands before the institute administration.
Demand to give official recognition to RDA and student union
The resident doctors have demanded a public statement and apology from the administration on the incident, compensation of Rs 5 crore to the family of the deceased doctor and all applicable benefits. Apart from this, a demand has also been made to fix accountability for the incident and resignation of the executive director. There has been a demand to give official recognition to the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) and the Students Union.
OPD services will remain closed
Resident doctors say the demands are aimed at ensuring the safety, respect and welfare of doctors and students at the institute. He has demanded immediate and time bound action on the demands. During the strike, regular OPD and elective operation services will remain closed, while emergency OPD and emergency operation theaters have been said to remain operational.
