Macron : French President Emmanuel Macron raised questions on the response of the international community to the situation in Gaza in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. He said that if the world remains inactive in the face of the ongoing crisis in Gaza, its credibility will be questioned. Macron expressed serious concern about the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Macron said in his address that it is not enough to simply say that peace has been established unless routes for the delivery of humanitarian aid are effectively available. He called for the international community to play a more active role regarding the situation in Gaza.
Said to be a priority to open the Strait of Hormuz
Speaking on the current crisis in West Asia, Macron called reopening the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping a priority. He said that it is in the interest of all countries to ensure the movement of ships through this waterway. Macron said that Hormuz should not be used as a means of pressure or blackmail and also stressed respect for international law. France is already working with the US on a possible UN Security Council resolution to ensure freedom of navigation in Hormuz. This issue was also discussed between Macron and US President Donald Trump. The French President said diplomatic options could be used to find ways to open passage for some ships and oil tankers even before a comprehensive agreement is reached.
Qatar also talked about solution through diplomacy (Macron)
Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also stressed the need to resolve the crisis in West Asia through diplomatic means at the UN General Assembly. He said Qatar is trying to play its role for regional security and a permanent solution. Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has also recently said that if America reduces military pressure and lifts the blockade of Iranian ports, it can reopen the strait within a week. This statement was given by a senior Iranian official to Reuters. Meanwhile, Jordan’s King Abdullah II also expressed concern at the UN General Assembly over the situation in Gaza and issues related to the West Bank and appealed for more action from the international community.
