Jaishankar's diplomatic activism in UNGA, deep brainstorming on bilateral cooperation!

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar is holding meetings with his counterparts from many countries on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. During these meetings, issues like India-UAE-France trilateral cooperation, bilateral relations with Nepal, Ukraine and Gulf crisis and reform of the UN Security Council were discussed.

The Foreign Minister himself gave this information through various posts on social media platform X. Explained the importance of these meetings with some photographs.

Jaishankar participated in the India-UAE-France trilateral meeting. He said on the social media platform 'X' that cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), space, health sciences, energy and culture were the main topics of discussion in the meeting.

“The three countries' common interests and each other's complementary capabilities provide vast opportunities for cooperation. The three sides also agreed to meet again soon to take forward the dialogue,” he said.

Under the India-UAE-France trilateral arrangement, the three countries are working to increase cooperation in technology, energy, space and other strategic areas. Emerging areas like AI and health sciences were also included as key areas of cooperation in Jaishankar's recent meeting.

Jaishankar also met Nepal's Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal. Both reviewed the progress made in bilateral relations since the last meeting held in Delhi (June). Development partnership and energy cooperation were the main issues discussed. Nepal's Foreign Minister also expressed his gratitude for the solidarity and immediate assistance received from India after the recent devastating floods.

In the meeting between India and Nepal, emphasis was laid on further strengthening the long standing close relations between the two countries and taking forward bilateral cooperation. Both sides also exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest.

Jaishankar also met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful. He said that both the leaders shared their assessments regarding the ongoing crises in Ukraine and the Gulf region. India and Germany are members of the G4 and cooperation between the two countries continues at the United Nations and other multilateral fora.

Jaishankar then participated in a joint meeting with his G4 counterparts Brazil, Germany and Japan. The meeting discussed the need to improve multilateralism and make the UN Security Council more representative, accountable and effective.

The G4 countries have long been demanding Security Council reform and expansion of permanent membership. In the meeting, all four countries committed to continue working together to advance this common objective.

The Foreign Minister said that in view of the current global realities, reform in multilateral institutions is necessary. India's argument in favor of changing the composition of the Security Council has been that today's global political and economic realities should be more effectively reflected in the UN's decision-making bodies.
