Chandigarh: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab leader and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal today launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre, alleging that the ED is openly misusing central agencies like the CBI to intimidate and target elected governments.
Unprecedented use of agencies against political opponents
Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that such a period has never been seen before in the history of the country when central agencies are being used to such an extent against political opponents. BJP has failed to win the political battle with people's votes, hence it wants to capture power by creating an atmosphere of fear, breaking the opposition parties and putting pressure on the leaders.
ED operation in Punjab: Delhi attack
Referring to the recent ED operation in Punjab, Dhaliwal made it clear that its real objective is to intimidate AAP leaders and administrative officials and defame the Punjab government. He said that this is not just ED's raid on the Aam Aadmi Party government, but it is 'Delhi's attack on Punjab'. The history of Punjab is witness to the fact that whenever any external power has tried to suppress or subjugate Punjab, the Punjabis have always fought against it strongly.
BJP's old formula and Punjab's opposition
Kuldeep Dhaliwal said that BJP has adopted the same formula in Maharashtra, Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal and other parts of the country, where attempts were made to destabilize the governments of opposition parties through agencies. Now the same game is being repeated in Punjab also. But BJP is forgetting that neither the leaders of Aam Aadmi Party nor the people of Punjab are afraid.
Drug free Punjab Yatra targeted
Taking aim at BJP's recent 'Drug Free Punjab Yatra', Dhaliwal said that BJP's claims have been deflated due to the rejection of this yatra by the people of Punjab. He asked why the BJP, which is doing the drama of de-addiction in Punjab, does not pay attention to Gujarat, where drugs worth thousands of crores of rupees are being seized every day? If BJP is really serious about ending drug addiction, then it should visit Gujarat.
The plans of Bhagwant Mann government and the steadfast courage of the leaders
The AAP MLA reminded that the Bhagwant Mann government is continuously implementing historic public welfare schemes in Punjab, due to which the public's support is with the party. He said that our senior leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh were put in jail by the central agencies in false cases, but not a single soldier of the party bowed down or sold out.
BJP's crushing defeat in 2022 elections
Taking aim at the political position of BJP, Dhaliwal said that in the 2022 assembly elections, the people of Punjab have reduced BJP to only 2 seats. BJP leaders should remove this misconception that they can find their political ground in Punjab on the basis of agencies.
The fight against the bullying of the Center continues
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal reiterated that Aam Aadmi Party will continue its political and legal fight against this bullying of the Centre. Without the fear of ED or any other agency, the voice of Punjab's rights will be raised and the wise people of Punjab will give a befitting reply to this arrogance of BJP in a democratic manner.
