Mumbai Indians have appointed Luke Williams as the new head coach of the women's team ahead of WPL 2027. He replaces Lisa Keatley. Nita M. Ambani welcomed Luke Williams to the Mumbai Indians family, saying, “Luke is a winner. He has extensive experience, a deep understanding of women's cricket and a strong commitment to developing players.”
He said that the Mumbai Indians girls have performed brilliantly in the WPL and he is confident that under the guidance of Luke and the leadership of Harmanpreet, the team will continue to achieve further success and inspire the young players to dream big.
Luke Williams has previously been a part of title-winning teams in Australia's 'Women's Big Bash League', England's 'The Hundred' and India's WPL. He has also been the assistant coach of the England women's cricket team since 2025.
Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur, Mumbai Indians have won two out of four WPL titles, in 2023 and 2025.
