Reigning NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson announced Thursday on a live edition of his Roommates Show podcast (Twitter video link) that he’s “fully cleared” for training camp following July wrist surgery.
Reporting at the time of Brunson’s procedure indicated that his availability for the 2026/27 regular season opener in October wasn’t in jeopardy. The Knicks’ star point guard confirmed that today.
Brunson averaged 26.0 points, 6.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 35.0 minutes per game across 74 regular season outings in 2025/26. The 30-year-old increased his scoring average to 28.4 PPG during a memorable postseason run that saw the Knicks go 16-3 and win their first championship since 1973. Brunson was named Finals MVP after scoring 45 points in a series-clinching Game 5.
Brunson’s injury, which he played through during the playoffs, was later described as a tendon issue in his left wrist. He suggested in late August that he was recovering well from the procedure.
