12 years of Make in India: PM Narendra Modi's dream project 'Make in India' has completed 12 years. It was launched by PM Modi on 25 September 2014 with the aim of increasing production, investment and exports in India. The initial objective of this project was to make India a big center of manufacturing and innovation. On completion of 12 years, Prime Minister Modi has told the story of India's 5500% growth. By sharing 4 photos and videos on social media, PM Modi has explained the changes that have taken place in the manufacturing sector in the last 12 years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on Twitter – In the 12 year journey of 'Make in India', the country has seen more production, more investment and more exports. He said that its effect is clearly visible in different areas. The Prime Minister wrote that more things are being made in India, more investments are being made in the country and more exports are being made from India.
According to government data, India's defense export in 2014 was around Rs 690 crore. This has now increased to more than Rs 38,400 crore. That means, during this period, there has been an increase of more than 5,500 percent in the export of defense goods. The Government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has been included among the major schemes to increase domestic production. According to the data shared, more than Rs 15.5 lakh crore has been exported under PLI schemes. A total production and sales of Rs 23.8 lakh crore have been recorded under these schemes. A major change has also been seen in mobile phone manufacturing. According to the government, about 99.2 percent of mobile phones used in India are now made in the country.
Focus on 27 sectors in Make in India 2.0
According to the government, now 27 sectors are being focused on under 'Make in India 2.0'. These include 15 manufacturing and 12 service sectors. Initiatives like National Single Window System, PM Gati Shakti and India Industrial Land Bank have also been taken to ease investment.
