In the Asian Games 2026 held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, Suchika won the bronze medal in the traditional category of mixed martial arts (60 kg). However, after returning to India, she made a big claim saying that she was cheated, due to which she could not win the gold medal.

Actually, Suchika Tariyal returned to India on Thursday after winning the bronze medal in mixed martial arts in the Asian Games 2026. Recently, while talking to PTI, she told that she was winning in the semi-finals, but the result was strange. Let us tell you that after the time limit was over, the judges had declared the Singaporean athlete the winner, but India had opposed this decision. The result was given on the basis that on the morning of the fight, Suchika’s weight was 700 grams more than her opponent.

Speaking to PTI, Suchika said, “I was winning, but the result was strange. Instead of extending the fight for another round, strange weight rules were imposed. The gold medal I deserved was taken away from me because of this result.” Taking her point forward, she said about the weight rule that she personally considers this rule nonsense. She further said that if I had lost if I had got one more round, I would have accepted my defeat.
What happened in the match?
There was a tough fight between Suchika and Hun in the semi-final match of mixed martial arts in the Asian Games. However, after 2 rounds, the judges declared the Singaporean athlete the winner. After this, India protested against this decision of the judges by paying a fee of 1000 dollars. On re-checking, both the athletes had an equal fight and the match was drawn, but the result of the match was given on the basis of morning weight, in which the weight of the Indian athlete was 700 grams more.
