Hearing on Thursday, the court of Sessions Judge Ram Sulin Singh, while hearing the case of causing serious injury by beating with sticks in a dispute over commuting 12 and a half years ago, found two culprits, Santosh Maurya and Sonu Maurya, guilty and sentenced them to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment each. A fine of Rs 3 thousand each has also been imposed on them. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of 3 months. The period spent in jail will be included in the sentence.
According to the prosecution, Ramsurat Maurya, resident of Madhupur (Koilahiya), Police Station Robertsganj, District Sonbhadra, had alleged in a verbal complaint given in the Robertsganj Police Station that on January 25, 2014, when he was passing in front of the house of Santosh Maurya and Sonu Maurya of the village, Santosh Maurya and Sonu Maurya spontaneously started abusing over a dispute over commuting. When he said that there is only one way, so where to go, on hearing this both of them started beating him with sticks, due to which he suffered serious injuries near his ears, eyes and chest.
With the help of the village people, he was taken to Lodhi District Hospital for medical treatment. Take necessary action. Police registered NCR on this complaint. On January 27, the police got Ramsurat Maurya medically examined in the district hospital. The case was discussed on the orders of the court. After getting sufficient evidence, the investigator had filed a charge sheet in the court against Santosh Maurya and Sonu Maurya, increasing section 308 IPC for causing serious injury.
During the hearing of the case, while the counsel for the accused pleaded for minimum punishment, saying that it was the first crime, the district government advocate criminal Gyanendra Sharan Roy, calling it a serious matter, requested for maximum punishment. After listening to the arguments of the advocates of both the parties, examining the statements and files of the witnesses, the court found the accused Santosh Maurya and Sonu Maurya guilty and sentenced them to 5 years of rigorous imprisonment each. A fine of Rs 3,000 each has also been imposed on them. In case of non-payment of fine, he will have to undergo additional imprisonment of 3 months. The period spent in jail will be included in the sentence.
