Jamshedpur, Jharkhand:- On Thursday, armed criminals carried out a major robbery in broad daylight at Canara Bank located in Golmuri police station area of Jamshedpur. As soon as the bank opened, around five armed criminals entered the bank premises and held the bank employees and customers present there hostage at gunpoint. After this, the criminals looted cash and a large amount of gold jewelery from the bank and fled from the spot after committing the crime.
■ Criminals entered the bank with weapons as soon as it opened:
According to the information, as soon as the bank started its functioning on Thursday, five unidentified armed criminals entered inside the bank. The criminals showed their weapons and captured the bank employees and customers. This sudden incident created an atmosphere of chaos in the bank premises. The criminals carried out the robbery by threatening the people present in the bank.
■ Information about looting of Rs 42 lakh cash and huge quantity of jewellery:
According to preliminary information, the criminals escaped from the bank with about Rs 42 lakh in cash and a large amount of gold jewellery. However, an official estimate of the total cash and gold looted has not yet been made by the bank management. The actual amount of loot and the quantity of jewelery will be clear only after the bank officials match the cash and the contents of the locker.
■ The criminals fled on foot after the incident:
It is being told that after committing the robbery, the criminals left the bank and fled from the spot on foot. Police teams are busy gathering information about the possible routes and direction of the criminals' escape. Police are scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby, so that the identity of the criminals and their escape route can be ascertained.
