New Delhi: In order to create a safe and orderly environment in the capital, the Outer District Police has taken steps towards better coordination between the police and the general public. An important meeting of the district level committee was organized in the conference hall located at Pitampura Police Lines on Friday. The meeting was presided over by Lok Sabha MP Yogendra Chandolia while Mundka Assembly constituency MLA Gajendra Dral was also present. In the meeting, representatives from various social and civil organizations along with police officers participated and put forward the problems of their respective areas.
Outer District Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram Singh, IPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar Meena, all Assistant Police Commissioners, station in-charges, traffic police officers and 29 co-opted members of the committee attended the meeting. The committee had participation from representatives of business organisations, RWAs, slum settlements, industrial units, educational institutions, social workers and other civil groups.
Review of old issues, emphasis on new solutions
At the beginning of the meeting, MP Yogendra Chandolia was welcomed by the Outer District Police. DCP Vikram Singh introduced senior officers and committee members. After this, the action taken and compliance on the issues raised in the previous meeting was reviewed. Police officials clarified that work is being done to solve the problems raised by citizens by sending them to the concerned departments on priority basis.
'Etiquette' guards the safety of women and children
The activities of community policing and etiquette team of the outer district police were also highlighted in the meeting. According to the police, the etiquette team is running an awareness campaign regarding the safety of women and children in public places. Citizens are being communicated with at bus stands, inside buses, schools, parks and other public places to make them aware of personal safety, vigilance and safe behaviour. The aim of the police is not only to take action after incidents but also to reduce the chances of crime through awareness.
Encroachment and traffic become a big issue
During the meeting, the committee members put forward many important problems related to their areas before the officials. Among these, issues related to encroachment by street markets, traffic jams, parking problems and other civic amenities were prominent. DCP Outer District informed that a survey is also being conducted regarding encroachment and other civil problems. Emphasis was laid on identifying related problems and increasing coordination with concerned agencies for necessary action.
RWA's role will become stronger
In the meeting, special emphasis was laid on strengthening the communication between the police and the public. Officials said that the role of RWAs and other community representatives is important in understanding local problems in time and finding solutions to them. A proposal was also made to create a special platform for senior citizens. Through this, elderly citizens will be able to communicate regularly with police officers and put forward their security concerns and other problems directly.
MP gave message of better coordination
MP Yogendra Chandolia stressed the need for better coordination between the police, civic representatives and various government agencies. He said that it is necessary for all parties to work together to effectively solve the civil problems of the region and strengthen public security. The message also came out in the meeting that safe Delhi is not only the responsibility of the police, but a joint responsibility of the police, administration and the public.
