Basti. There is a lot of anger among the villagers regarding the cleanliness system in the revenue village Patila of Gram Panchayat Patila of Gaur development block of Basti district. There is an allegation that the sweeper posted in the village, Ram Bahadur, is not arriving for duty regularly. Due to the alleged absence of sweepers, there is a pile of filth in public places including schools.
Regarding the matter, Naresh Kumar has given a complaint letter to the Assistant Development Officer (Panchayat), Gaur, demanding investigation and action. The complainant says that due to the sanitation workers not coming to the village regularly, the villagers are not getting the benefit of the sanitation system. Questions have also been raised regarding the entries made in the available attendance register.
If there is no duty, then on what basis was the salary paid, but the question is, the salary is being given arbitrarily by the Pradhan Audio Panchayat. Why don't the officials investigate and take action? Is the payment being made by taking a huge amount? The villagers have a direct question that if the sweeper is not doing duty on the spot, then who is verifying his presence and on what basis the salary is being paid. The villagers have demanded an investigation of the records related to the sweeper's presence on the spot, attendance register and salary payment.
The complainant has demanded that till the investigation is completed, if proper investigation is done as per rules, then payment of salary for the relevant period should be stopped and if the absence is confirmed, action should be taken as per rules. Besides, the cleanliness system of the school and village should be improved by making the sweeper regularly present on duty.
Questions are also being raised on the monitoring system. Along with the absence of the sweeper, the case has also raised questions on the system of monitoring his duty. After all, if the sweeper remains absent from duty for several days, then why did this matter not come under the supervision of the concerned officers and employees? If entries have been made in the attendance register, then matching them with the actual presence on the spot is also a matter of investigation. The villagers say that the cleanliness system of the village is being affected due to the absence of the sweeper. In such a situation, action should be taken if found guilty after spot investigation, verification of attendance register and salary payment. The villagers hope that the development block Gaur administration will take cognizance of the matter and take action and restore the cleanliness system of the village by ensuring regular duty of the sweeper.
