Was obsessed with working till the last moment
Dev Anand has been such a Bollywood superstar for whom age never became a hindrance in the way of work. He believed that as long as there is breath in the body, a person should keep working. He often used to say, 'The word retirement is not in my dictionary. The day I stop working, I will literally die. This was the reason why despite his increasing age he did not distance himself from films.
A few months before his death, his film 'Chargesheet' was released in September 2011. At that time his age was 88 years. From this it can be understood that he was working in films even at this age. In those days he was writing films, directing them and also acting. When he was asked how he manages to run around so much despite being so old, his answer was that there is a sea of ideas in his mind, which never lets him sit.
What was Dev Anand's last wish before his death?
The most special aspect of Dev Anand's thinking is visible in his last wish. Shortly before Dev Anand's death, he was asked in interviews that if he got the next birth, what would he want to become. On this question he had said, 'I want to be born only and only as Dev Anand in the next life.' This wish of his shows how much he loved his life and his work. He wanted to become Dev Anand again and complete those incomplete stories and projects, which he could not bring on screen in this life due to lack of time.
What was Dev Anand's approach to living life?
Dev Anand's thinking can also be understood from the famous song of his film 'Hum Dono'. 'I went on with life, blowing every worry away.' These lines were quite in line with his way of living life. He believed in moving forward instead of being stuck in the past. Even after a flop film or any major loss in life, he did not mourn for a long time. According to those close to him, after a film flopped, he would start working on the script of a new film the very next day. For him, yesterday was gone and he used to focus on the coming day.

It is said that in the last days of his life, Dev Anand became physically weak, but his courage and determination to work never diminished. He had gone to London for rest to improve his health. There too his mind remained focused on films. He was planning his next film, which he had named 'Foreign Return' and was also working on its script. But fate had something else in store. He died of a heart attack in a London hotel on 3 December 2011. It is said that while sleeping, he said goodbye to this world forever. Due to which millions and crores of hearts were broken.
