Delhi government has achieved the target of planting 70 lakh saplings under Mission Green Delhi. Giving this information on Friday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that Mega Plantation Drive-2026 was started on July 7 during Van Mahotsav. Under the campaign, large scale plantation was done in the capital. The Chief Minister said that work was done towards making Delhi more green through Mega Plantation Drive-2026. The campaign was launched during Van Mahotsav on 7th July. After this, plantation activities were conducted in various areas.
From government departments to citizens took part
Government departments, local bodies, public institutions, NGOs, schools-colleges, RWAs and common citizens participated in the campaign. The Chief Minister said that with the collective participation of various sections, the plantation campaign could take the form of a mass movement. Delhi Government's Mission Green Delhi focuses on increasing green cover and strengthening environmental protection in the capital. According to the government, large-scale plantation will help in increasing greenery in Delhi and improving the environmental balance.
Campaign became mass movement through mass participation

24.94 lakh saplings in ridge areas including South Ridge
CM said that a total of 24,94,505 saplings were planted in Central Ridge, DDA Ridge and South Ridge. He said that strengthening the green cover of the ridge areas will help in conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem.
1.47 lakh citizens planted 3.56 lakh saplings
A total of 1,89,116 bookings were made through public slot booking. In these, 1,47,095 citizens participated and planted 3,56,986 saplings. At the same time, 74,747 saplings were distributed and 21,394 saplings were planted through 'Vriksharath'. 7,61,827 saplings were also distributed from government nurseries. In this way, there was a big participation of common citizens along with government institutions in the campaign.
Care of planted plants is also important: Sirsa
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that every plant is an investment in clean air, greenery and a healthy future for children. He said that the government's focus will not be limited only to plantation, but will also be on the care and conservation of the planted plants. The government appealed to the citizens to preserve their planted saplings till they become trees and ensure their regular care.
