Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Slams Opposition Over Vote Chori: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's reaction to the news of differences among the Election Commission commissioners regarding the Special Intensive Revision or SIR of the voter list and the opposition's allegations regarding this has come to the fore. CM Rekha Gupta has launched a scathing attack on the opposition's allegations of 'vote theft' and raising questions on the Election Commission. Rekha Gupta called it propaganda to mislead the public.
CM Rekha termed the opposition's allegations like 'vote theft' as baseless. He said that the Election Commission has presented its stand before the public on the questions raised with complete transparency.
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta said that the process of the Election Commission is transparent. CM said that efforts are being made to create such situations in the country, whose purpose is only to mislead the public. Rekha Gupta said that today the opposition is raising questions on the functioning of the Chief Election Commissioner and the Election Commission. He asked whether such transparency and accountability was seen in the electoral process in the states where there were opposition governments? The Delhi Chief Minister said that there should be a question on how appropriate it is to make serious allegations against the Election Commission on the basis of a report published only in a newspaper. He said that the Election Commission itself has given clarification on the entire matter and described its process as transparent. Rekha Gupta said that no changes have been made in Form-6. According to the Election Commission, a separate declaration form i.e. Annexure-D has been provided along with Form-6 under SIR.
Answer given on allegations of vote cutting
The CM also rejected the opposition's allegations that a large number of votes were being deducted. He said that names of people who have shifted to another place or who have died are removed from the voter list. Rekha Gupta said that it is not right to present the process of updating the voter list as vote theft.
