Lucknow. The weather has once again taken a turn in Uttar Pradesh. There was heavy rain in many parts of the state during the last 24 hours. According to the Meteorological Department, due to the effect of the low pressure area formed in the northern part of Central Uttar Pradesh, many districts have witnessed heavy rains.
Highest rainfall in eastern UP
Rain intensified in many districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. About 32 cm rainfall was recorded in Farrukhabad, while Gorakhpur received 23 cm rainfall and Lakhimpur Kheri and Maharajganj received around 19 cm rainfall each. The impact of heavy rain was also seen in Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Basti, Kannauj, Ayodhya, Bahraich, Lucknow and Azamgarh.
Western UP also drenched in rain
Heavy rain also occurred in many areas of western Uttar Pradesh. About 18 cm rainfall was recorded in Moradabad, 17 cm in Bareilly and 15-15 cm in Kasganj and Rampur. Sambhal and Bijnor also received about 14 cm rainfall. Rain continued in the surrounding areas including Mainpuri and Shahjahanpur.
Chance of heavy rain again in these areas
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in some parts of Eastern UP. There may be heavy rain in the surrounding districts including Varanasi, Ballia, Gorakhpur, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra. Rain activities can also be seen in some areas of western UP. However, rainfall is likely to reduce gradually as the weather system weakens.
Special advice to farmers to take precautions
Due to continuous rains and strong winds, there is a danger of damage to the standing crops, harvested produce and horticultural crops. Farmers have been advised to drain excess water accumulated in the fields of paddy, maize, sugarcane, pigeon pea and vegetables, so that the crops can be protected from waterlogging.
