The situation remains serious due to the weather in Uttarkashi of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. Due to heavy snowfall and continuous rain, many mountaineers and tourists from India and abroad are stuck in the high Himalayan regions. Of these, a total of 136 climbers, trackers and support staff are present in different high Himalayan areas of the district.

These include 89 members under High Altitude Expedition, 18 members of trekking category at Kalindi Pass Base Camp and 29 members at Audin Kol Pass Base Camp. Due to heavy snowfall in all these areas, the roads have been completely closed. Following strict instructions from District Magistrate Prashant Arya, joint teams of District Administration, Forest Department, SDRF, Police and Disaster Management Authority are engaged in rescue operations so that all the tourists and porters can be brought down safely.
The administration is busy in evacuating the people stranded on these trekking routes. Along with this, concrete arrangements have also been made for their stay, food and first aid. With the help of Gangotri National Park staff, most of the tourists stranded in Bhojwasa and Chirbasa have already been evacuated safely. The District Magistrate himself is continuously monitoring the entire situation from the control room and is taking updates from moment to moment.
The administration has said that getting all these stranded people out safely is their first priority. These climbers and trackers will be rescued by running helicopter operations amid bad weather. The local administration has appealed to the tourists to completely avoid going on mountainous and risky roads during bad weather and follow the guidelines of the administration.
