What exactly is PTO?
In Indian Railways, 'Privilege Ticket Order' PTO is a concessional travel voucher issued to eligible railway employees and retired employees. Through this, they can purchase train tickets at one third of the normal passenger fare i.e. 33%.
This campaign from October 1
Central Railway will conduct a special ticket checking campaign from 1st October to 31st October 2026. During this campaign, the railway staff will carefully verify whether the passenger's ticket is valid or not and whether the person traveling on that ticket is eligible. This means, henceforth it is not only possible to check whether you have a ticket, but whether you fulfill the Aadhaar and necessary qualifications to get a ticket.
Which documents do passengers need to carry?
Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer CPRO Dr. According to Swapnil Neela, passengers traveling under the concessional or special reservation quota must carry the required identity card. If multiple passengers are traveling on the same ticket, at least one passenger must carry the required identity card as per railway rules. What if there is no document?
According to the Railways, if the required original document is not found during the check, the passengers traveling on that ticket may be treated as traveling without a valid ticket as per the applicable rules. This means that even if you have a ticket, problems can arise if you don't have the documents. So, if the ticket is purchased under discount or special quota, be sure to check the documents before travelling.
Checking of unreserved tickets
Unreserved tickets will also be checked in this special campaign. Railway ticket examiners can verify and check tickets with the help of TTE app if required. This means that even if you do not have a reserved seat and are traveling on an unreserved ticket, the validity of the ticket can be checked.

6. Central or State Govt numbered photo identity card

8. Nationalized Bank passbook with photograph
9. Credit card with laminated photo
Note that for passengers who have eligibility criteria for tickets, just having any ID will not suffice. You will have to show eligibility documents as required.
Why is Railways running this campaign?
According to the Central Railway, the inspection drive is aimed at curbing irregularities related to ticketing and reservation. Railways will particularly focus on avoiding loss of revenue, curbing misuse of reservations and fraudulent use of concessions, passes or other benefits.
