Five Family Members Drowned While In Jhansi: During Shraddha rituals in Jhansi, five family members including father and son drowned in the river.

New Delhi. A very heartbreaking incident has happened in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Five people of the same family drowned while offering tarpan in the river during Shraddha ritual. A father and son are also among those who died. According to eyewitnesses, everyone lost their lives to save one. A 12 year old child is also among the dead. With the help of divers, all the bodies were taken out of the river. After the incident, other members of the family are in bad condition and crying. There is mourning in the surrounding areas also.

According to the information, Anoop Tiwari, resident of Deori Singhpura village of Mauranipur police station area, reached the banks of Sukhnai river to perform Pind Daan and Shraddha of his uncle. He was accompanied by his 12 year old son Arpit and other family members Abhinav Tiwari (25), Shreyansh Tiwari (21) and Pushkar Shukla (23), resident of Haredai, Jalaun. Anup first performed the Shraddha rituals on the banks of the river and then descended into the river for tarpan. Then Anoop's foot slipped and he went into deep water. To save Anoop, other members of the family also went ahead into the river and one by one they all drowned.

The people present at the spot screamed, after which some people tried to save them, but before that, all five of them drowned in the river. As soon as information about the incident was received, Deputy District Magistrate Manoj Kumar Bharti, Police Officer Ratnesh Singh and Kotwali in-charge Mukesh Kumar Solanki reached the spot. Divers were lowered into the water, after a long time the bodies of the five were taken out of the river. The police have sent all the bodies for post-mortem.
