New Delhi. Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a big announcement while addressing BJP's 'Drug Free Punjab Rally' in Jalandhar today. Shah said that I promise the mothers and youth of Punjab that if BJP forms the government in the state, we will free Punjab from the chitta trade before December 31, 2029. He clarified that there are many issues related to farmers, industry, law and order and women's safety in Punjab, but BJP will fight the upcoming assembly elections only on the issue of 'Drug Free Punjab'.
Taking aim at CM Bhagwant Mann, Amit Shah said that the one who insults the gurus while drunk cannot free Punjab from Chitta. BJP is the only party which can make Punjab drug free. BJP has launched a drug-free India campaign across the country. Shah said that from 2004 to 2014, when Congress was in power, in those 10 years, 26 lakh kilograms of Chitta was seized across the country. Then Modi government came and between 2014 and 2024, 1 crore 20 lakh kilograms of drugs were seized. The Congress party had seized drugs worth Rs 40,000 crore, whereas in 10 years the BJP government seized five times this amount worth Rs 1,90,000 crore. He said that remove the useless government in Punjab and we will end Chatta in two years.
Shah said, the campaign to make Punjab drug-free had to be launched because the Aam Aadmi Party government here allowed the chit trade to run openly in Punjab. I tell the people of Punjab, we did what we said. PM Modi's BJP worked to free Kashmir from terrorism, ended the 50 year old Naxal problem by calling it a date and also ended terrorism in the North East. Now it is the turn of Chitta free Punjab. Let us tell you that Chitta is a very dangerous intoxicant.
