Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. A shocking case of alleged trafficking of a one month old baby has come to light in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. According to police investigation, the child's biological parents, who were in a live-in relationship, allegedly sold him to a woman for Rs 1.20 lakh. After this, within just 48 hours the child reached Hyderabad, Telangana, among many people. The police took action and recovered the child safely and arrested seven people in the case.
Deal started from Rs 1.20 lakh, price reached Rs 3.50 lakh
According to the police, the child's first deal was with a woman named Seema Reshwal for around Rs 1.20 lakh. After this Seema sold the child to Sangeeta Awhad for Rs 2.70 lakh. Investigation revealed that there was an exchange of children between Sangeeta and Suresh Guntuka, who claimed to be a doctor, in Nanded. After this the child was taken to Uma Khatkam of Hyderabad, where he was reportedly sold for Rs 3.50 lakh. In this way the innocent child had to pass through many hands.
Bought gold jewelery and phones with the money sold
During the investigation, the police also reportedly found out that the child's biological parents used the money from the deal to buy gold jewelery and expensive smartphones. According to police, gold jewelery and two smartphones worth about Rs 62 thousand were purchased. Information about these items being seized during investigation has come to light.
Case registered on September 24, seven accused arrested
Mukundwadi police had registered a case on September 24 and started investigation. As the investigation progressed, information about the people involved in the alleged horse-trading and money transactions came to light. The police have arrested a total of seven people, including the child's biological parents. According to officials, the investigation is also focused on whether the trafficking of children had taken place in this network before or not.
Innocent child recovered from Hyderabad
Police recovered the child safely from Hyderabad and brought him back to Maharashtra. Following the orders of the Child Welfare Committee, the innocent child has been handed over to the care of an institution. Mukundwadi police is further investigating the case.
