Flight Ticket Price: Expenses on air travel may increase, ATF price increased by ₹ 16 per liter

Tezzbuzz Desk- If you are preparing for air travel during the festive season, your travel expenses may increase. Government oil companies have increased the prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) for the third consecutive month. Jet fuel prices have been increased by Rs 16 per liter in October. Along with this, the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has also increased by Rs 62.59. However, there has been no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinder.

According to oil companies, amid the increase in crude oil prices in the international market, the price of ATF for domestic airlines has been increased from Rs 121 to Rs 137 per liter. This increase of October is about 13 percent. Earlier in September, the price of ATF was increased by Rs 6.28 per liter i.e. 5.46 percent. In August also, the price of jet fuel was increased by Rs 5 per liter.

In this way, the price of ATF has increased by more than Rs 27 per liter in the last three months. This is an increase of about 25 percent. ATF accounts for about 40 percent of the operating expenses of airlines. In such a situation, increase in fuel prices can have a direct impact on the costs of airlines. Its effect can also be seen on air fares in future.

Apart from ATF, commercial LPG cylinders have also become expensive. The price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by Rs 62.59. Earlier, the price of commercial LPG was reduced by Rs 192 in August and by Rs 183.50 in July. In September also, the price of 19 kg cylinder was increased by Rs 9.50.

Commercial LPG prices had reached record levels in June amid disruptions in global energy supply and rising international prices. Between February and June, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder had increased by Rs 1,373 from Rs 1,740.50 to Rs 3,113.50, before prices fell in July and August.

There has been no change in the prices of domestic LPG this time. The price of 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder remains at Rs 942. Between March and June, the price of domestic cooking gas was increased by Rs 89 per cylinder following supply disruptions due to the West Asia crisis and increase in international energy prices.

Oil companies change the prices of ATF and LPG on the first of every month. These prices are influenced by the international benchmark rate and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Apart from this, prices may vary from state to state due to VAT and local taxes. There has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel this time. Earlier in May, the prices of both were increased by about Rs 7.50 per liter.
