'Government is not mother-father', PM Modi said big thing about recruitment in UPSC centenary celebration

Tezzbuzz Desk- Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the centenary celebrations of UPSC on Thursday. During this, he mentioned the 100-year journey of the Commission, its legacy and the aspirations of the youth of the country. PM Modi said that generations changed, government systems, technology and syllabus changed, but people's trust in UPSC is still intact.

PM Modi said that this is not only a celebration of 100 years of UPSC, but also a celebration of its legacy. It is a celebration of the aspirations of millions of youth who try to realize their dreams every year. A commemorative postage stamp was also released during the ceremony.

The Prime Minister also mentioned Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. He said that Netaji had also gone through the same process in 1920. At that time there was British rule, but there was Sanskrit paper in the examination and Subhash Chandra Bose had given the examination in Sanskrit.

Remembering Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, PM Modi said that after independence, he had the challenge of keeping the country free as well as running it. Sardar Patel prepared the skill structure necessary for the reconstruction of the nation and made this institution the main pillar of independent India.

Regarding selection in civil services, PM Modi said that two criteria should be kept in mind in every selection – country first and citizen first. He said that in the recruitment examination it should not only be seen how much the candidate knows, but it should also be tested as to why he wants to join civil services.

The Prime Minister said that it is necessary to bring such youth into public service, who are attracted not by public office but by public service. He said that earlier it was believed that the government is the mother and father, but today's mantra is 'Nagrik Devo Bhava'. He said that the country needs such professionals who can understand the problems of the poor and the needs of the country.
