Cm Yogi Said Before 2017 The Government Used To Grovel Before The Mafia

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made a scathing attack on the law and order situation of the previous government. He said that before 2017, the dreaded mafia was dominant in every district of the state. Parallel governments used to run. Noses were rubbed in front of the mafia, knees were made to bend and the police were helpless. If the backbone of the political leadership is crooked, how can it straighten law and order?

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was addressing the function organized at Lok Bhavan auditorium on Thursday. On this occasion, he flagged off 87 interceptor vehicles, awarded medals to brave policemen and also released the book 'Sangharsh' of former DGP Prakash Singh.

The Chief Minister said that after 2017, the government took forward police reforms. Uttar Pradesh was the first in the country to implement the police reform advocated by Prakash Singh. Now seven police commissionerates are functioning in the state.

Today, the coordination of ideas, bravery and technology is visible in front of the UP Police. Through 'Sangharsh', the experiences and challenges of the police service have come to the fore, the bravery of the brave men has been honored and state-of-the-art interceptor vehicles have been dedicated to the police force for road safety.

He said that it is easy to make any comment towards anyone while sitting in a closed room. No matter how big a person is and how proud he is of his position, if security is removed, it will not take long for him to become a wet cat in an atmosphere of anarchy.

Healthy thinking is possible only when there is an environment of security in the society. The vision of prosperity can be realized only in a safe environment. The theme of UP Police 'Your Safety, Our Resolve' expresses this sentiment. When the Terai region was in the grip of terrorism, movement was possible only under the protection of police and army.

Traffic almost stopped after sunset. As DGP at that time, Prakash Singh faced these challenges. Prakash Singh had to take refuge in the Supreme Court for police reforms. Uttar Pradesh has taken important steps towards implementing police reforms.

The Chief Minister said that ideology is not just words or articles, but it also includes the challenges of practical life. Prakash Singh faced these challenges at every step during his service and completed his entire service efficiently.

His ideology, which has been inspiring the youth through lectures in various institutions for a long time, has now come out in the form of a book. When there is coordination between conduct and thoughts and both move in the same direction, only then results emerge.

Referring to the law and order situation of the state before 2017, CM Yogi said that at that time people were thrown out by calling them 'UP wala'. The police also faced big challenges.

If the political leadership does not have the ability to take decisions on its own, it becomes difficult to control law and order. At that time the condition of police reforms and infrastructure facilities was also not better. Only about six thousand police personnel could be trained in a year.

Policemen had to live in dilapidated buildings. PAC's channels were dismantled. Curfew was imposed for a long time due to riots in many places including Kosikalan, Meerut, Aligarh and Muzaffarnagar. Under these circumstances, Uttar Pradesh came to be called Bimaru.

Challenges arose in various areas including economy, employment, technology and implementation of welfare schemes. After 2017, by changing these circumstances, work was done to move the state forward.

CM Yogi said that along with police reforms, inclusion of technology is also necessary. Under the goal of Safe City, more than 14 lakh cameras have been installed in the cities of the state. These cameras are playing a role in prevention and exposure of incidents.

Integrated command and control centers have been set up in the districts. When technology is combined with thoughts and behavior, its results also emerge. Today this change is visible in the identity of UP Police.

The Chief Minister paid tribute to the bravery of late Sunil Kumar Singh, a brave Inspector attached to STF of Uttar Pradesh Police. He said that the Government of India has honored him with Kirti Chakra for his bravery and UP Police has received this honor for the first time.

Sunil Kumar Singh had killed four hardened criminals in a face-to-face encounter on January 22, 2025. During this, he was seriously injured by the bullets of the criminals and was later sacrificed. The Chief Minister honored his wife and family members and paid tribute to his memory.

He said that in the programme, 16 police officers and personnel were honored with the President's Gallantry Award and 10 police officers and personnel were honored with the Chief Minister's Gallantry Medal. The Chief Minister congratulated all the brave policemen.
