New Delhi. Legal action has moved ahead in the case of shooting near Hollywood singer Rihanna's Beverly Hills home. In this case, 36-year-old Ivana Lisseth Ortiz has been charged with a total of 14 serious crimes, including attempt to murder. This case is related to the shooting that took place in March this year in which according to officials, Rihanna, her partner rapper Rocky and their children were present inside the house. There was no information about anyone being injured in the firing, but after the incident, serious concerns were raised about the security arrangements.
Information about the allegations against the accused woman was made public in the court on Wednesday. According to the report, a grand jury handed up an indictment against Ortiz on June 18. However, the charge sheet was kept confidential for some time till the court could investigate his mental condition and decide on his competency to stand trial. A day earlier, another judge had deemed Ortiz competent to stand trial. After this, the way has been cleared for the judicial process of the case to proceed further.
Ortiz appeared in court wearing yellow prison clothes and spoke mainly to her attorney. The accused was declared innocent by his lawyer. During the hearing, the judge ordered him to be kept in custody on a bail amount of 2.6 million dollars. At present, framing of charges in the case does not equate to conviction and the final decision will be taken only after the further legal process in the court.
According to the police, the firing incident took place on March 8. It is alleged that Ortiz reached the gate of Rihanna and Rocky's Beverly Hills property in a Tesla car. According to investigators, he was armed with a semi-automatic rifle and exited the vehicle window and fired several shots in the direction of the property and a neighbor's home. According to officials at least 20 rounds were fired.
The seriousness of the matter also increased because Rihanna and her family were inside the house during the firing. According to police, the bullets reached the trailer in which the couple was present. Apart from this, it was also revealed that there was a bullet hit on the wall of the room where his children were present with their nanny. Rihanna's mother and some employees working in the house were also said to be present there at that time.
The prosecution has described the matter as serious and has raised questions about the intentions of the accused. The lawyers of the accused have not publicly responded in detail to the allegations. According to investigators, Ortiz said at the time of her arrest that she was not attempting murder. Between this statement and the allegations of the prosecution, many important facts may come to light during further hearing in the court.
Now the case has reached the next stage after the grand jury framed charges and the court deemed the accused competent to stand trial. In the further hearing, the prosecution and defense will present their respective evidence and arguments. No one was injured in the shooting, but this case is moving forward with serious criminal charges due to shots fired near a home and family. The final decision of guilt or innocence will come only after further court proceedings.
