Mumbai: Actor Sanjay Dutt marked Gandhi Jayanti on Thursday with a throwback to his 2003 film ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.’, sharing a memorable scene centred on Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings and philosophy of non-violence.
Taking to Instagram, Dutt shared a clip featuring a conversation between his character Munna Bhai and Arshad Warsi’s Circuit about Gandhi and his principles.
Along with the video, he wrote, “Some values never go out of time. Remembering Mahatma Gandhiji and the ideals of truth, peace and compassion that continue to inspire generations. Happy Gandhi Jayanti.”
In the scene, Munna asks Circuit why October 2 is significant, with Circuit explaining that it is Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.
Their conversation then turns to Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence and his belief in responding to hatred with peace rather than revenge.
Munna goes on to call himself a “big fan of Bapu” and recalls Gandhi’s resistance to British rule through his principles and determination.
The scene concludes with a reflection on the enduring relevance of Gandhi’s ideas in changing times.
Dutt’s post comes as India observes Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. starred Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Gracy Singh, Boman Irani and Sunil Dutt in key roles.
The film blended humour and emotion while exploring themes of compassion, empathy and treating others with dignity.
On the work front, Dutt was last seen in Ahmed Khan’s Welcome To The Jungle, alongside Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Suniel Shetty and Jacqueline Fernandez, among others.
He also featured in Abhijeet Mohan Warang’s political drama Aakhri Sawal, which starred Namashi Chakraborty, Amit Sadh and Sameera Reddy. The film released theatrically on May 15, 2026.
