Faridabad Minor Assault Case: Haryana Police Arrest Three, Search For More Suspects

City: Haryana Police on Friday arrested three persons in connection with an alleged sexual assault involving a minor girl at an abandoned building in Sector 78 of Greater Faridabad. Police have also launched a search for other persons suspected to be involved in the incident.

The incident is stated to have taken place on August 24, when the minor girl was allegedly present near the vacant structure along with a 16-year-old boy known to her. According to the police investigation, a group of youths allegedly confronted the two and took them inside the premises. The accused are alleged to have threatened the minors and subjected them to sexual assault.

The matter was reported to the police only later, after the girl’s mother noticed a significant change in her daughter’s behaviour. The girl had reportedly become withdrawn and had stopped attending her coaching classes. On being questioned by her mother, she allegedly disclosed the incident.

The family subsequently contacted the minor boy who was accompanying her at the time of the alleged occurrence. His account is also stated to have formed part of the information provided to the police.

Three Suspects Arrested

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at the BPTP police station on September 29. Investigators subsequently identified and apprehended three suspects named Kunal, Deepak and Yash.

The arrested accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to police custody for three days. Investigators are questioning them to ascertain the sequence of events and identify any other persons who may have participated in the alleged offense.

Police Search For Other Suspects

Police teams have been deployed to trace the remaining suspects and verify the circumstances surrounding the incident. The minor has also undergone medical examination as part of the investigation.

POCSO Case Under Investigation

The case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and other applicable penal provisions. Police have said that the investigation is continuing and further action will follow on the basis of the evidence collected.

The allegations remain subject to investigation and any accused persons will be entitled to the protections available under law until guilt is established in accordance with due process.
