BYD is now gearing up to expand its premium and luxury car portfolio in India. It has been reported that the company’s luxury brand Denza will soon enter India. Denza sits above BYD’s current Dynasty and Ocean ranges, while below Yangwang. The Indian market is likely to be entered through imported models initially.
How Denza got started?
Denza was started in 2010 as a 50:50 joint venture between BYD and Daimler. The brand name came into use in 2012. BYD provided technology related to batteries and electric vehicles, while Daimler provided experience in vehicle development. In September 2024, BYD acquired full ownership of Denza. Denza currently has a range of electric and plug-in hybrid models.
