Satara: Once on the field, consistency, discipline and hard work are more important than victory. The students who sweat in the wrestling arena should create their identity from the district to the international level with the strength of determination and practice. Along with the body, sports also increase self-confidence and mental strength. Therefore, Public Works Minister Shivendrasinharaje Bhosale expressed the opinion that sports should have an important place in the life of students as much as education.

School district level wrestling tournament 2026 was started by Shivendrasinharaje at Ajinkyatara Cooperative Sugar Factory workplace. The competition is organized in association with Directorate of Sports and Youth Services, Maharashtra State, Pune, Satara District Sports Council, District Sports Officer Office and Ajinkyatara Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools.
About 350 wrestlers from various schools of the district have participated in this tournament. Freestyle for boys under 14, 17 and 19, freestyle for girls under 14, 17 and 19, and Greco-Roman for boys under 17 and 19 will be held. The winning wrestlers from here will be selected for the Kolhapur Regional School Wrestling Tournament.
Shivendrasinhraje interacted with the players participating in the tournament and wished them well. Deputy Sports Director Suhas Patil, District Sports Officer Pallavi Dhatrak, Principal Santosh More, R. Y. Jadhav, Maharashtra Kesari Chandrakant Sul, Jaideep Gaikwad, Nitin Rajge, Panchayat Samiti Chairman Mahesh Gade, Market Committee Chairman Vikram Pawar, Amar More, Vijay Potekar, Arun Kapse, Dadasaheb Shelke, Ajinkyatara Factory. Chairman Namdev Sawant, Executive Director Jivaji Mohite etc were present.
Kits for 80 winning riders
To encourage wrestlers, 80 winners of the competition will be given tracksuit kits on behalf of Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale. The aim behind this is to create quality malls even from rural areas and encourage students to take up the sport of wrestling.
