New Delhi. The month of October has started with many changes increasing expenses for the common people. People preparing for shopping and traveling during the festive season may be affected by the increased cost of commercial LPG cylinders, Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), electronic equipment and passport services. From gas to air travel and household goods, rising costs across many sectors are likely to hit consumers' budgets in the coming days.
Commercial LPG cylinder prices increased
Government oil marketing companies have increased the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by up to Rs 62.50. After this, its price in Delhi has increased to Rs 2,810, while in Mumbai the commercial cylinder has now become Rs 2,764. The highest increase of Rs 71.50 has been recorded in Patna.
The increase in the price of commercial gas can have a direct impact on hotels, restaurants, dhabas and catering businesses. Due to increase in the cost of businessmen due to increase in demand for food services during festivals and wedding season, it may also have some impact on the pockets of customers.
ATF is expensive, expenses on air travel may increase
The price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) has also been increased from October. Oil companies have increased the price of aviation fuel by up to Rs 16 per litre. The share of fuel in the operating cost of aviation companies is considered to be around 40 percent. In such a situation, the cost of airlines may increase due to ATF becoming expensive. Due to increase in demand for air travel during Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath, ticket prices are also expected to be affected.
Buying TV, AC, fridge and washing machine will be expensive
A possible increase in the prices of home electronic appliances may also raise concerns for people preparing for festive shopping. The costs of companies have increased due to increase in the prices of raw materials like copper, steel and aluminum in the global market.
According to industry sources, prices of products like smart TV, split AC, refrigerator and washing machine may see an increase of 5 to 8 percent. Depending on the product, customers may have to pay around Rs 1,200 to Rs 3,500 extra. Despite festive offers and discounts, increased prices may impact the shopping budget.
Now it costs more to get a passport made
Expenses may also increase for those getting a new passport or renewing an old passport. The government has increased the passport application fee for general category. Under the new system, the cost of making a passport has been increased by up to Rs 1,000. This will affect people who get passports for foreign travel, studies or employment. Due to the festival, wedding and travel season in October and November, these increased costs can impact the budget of a large number of people.
Cost pressure may increase further in the coming days
According to experts, if the cost of raw materials and energy remains high, then the prices of other products and services may also increase in the coming time. Currently, increased costs on gas, travel and electronic goods amid festivals may cause additional expenses for consumers. Overall, these changes in early October may put additional pressure on the monthly and festive budgets of common consumers, businessmen and travelers.
