Good news for Bihar! State will be connected to Purvanchal Expressway, preparation for 4 lane connectivity

Patna. The project connecting Bihar with Purvanchal Expressway network is now progressing rapidly. About 80-85 percent work of Buxar spur of Ghazipur-Ballia-Manjighat greenfield corridor has been completed. This four-lane spur, about 17.27 km long, will connect Buxar to the main greenfield corridor.

Preparation to start by December

Starting from Karimuddinpur area, this route will reach the approach road of Ganga bridge in Buxar via Bharauli. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 617.89 crore. Efforts are being made by NHAI to start Buxar Spur by December.

Travel time and distance will be reduced

After the commissioning of the spur, passengers going from Buxar to Azamgarh, Ayodhya, Lucknow and Delhi will have less dependence on the old route. It is claimed that this can save distance of about 15 kilometers and time of about 45 minutes. Due to the problem of jam on the existing route, passengers face a lot of trouble.

A new bridge is also being built on Ganga

To reduce the traffic pressure on river Ganga in Buxar, a new three-lane bridge and elevated approach of about 3.2 kilometers is also being built. About 30 percent of the work on this project, which started in September 2025, is said to be complete. The target is to complete it by February 2028.

The entire scheme includes 117.12 km main greenfield route and 17.27 km Buxar spur. With its completion, the road connectivity between Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh is expected to get a new impetus.
