Aman showed excellent strategy in the match and responded to every attempt of Han. The North Korean wrestler tried his best to outwit the Indian wrestler, but Aman was successful in maintaining control throughout the match.
Before the final, Aman had defeated Eyal Belolyubsky of Tajikistan 14-8 in the semi-finals. With this victory, he created a chance to win gold in the Asian Games for the first time and achieved it in the final.
Aman won the bronze medal in the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. Now he changed the color of the same medal to gold. On Friday, Sujit Kalkal won gold in the men’s 65 kg category, which means India’s excellent performance in wrestling continues. .
Lost mother at the age of 10
Aman Sehrawat’s journey has been full of struggle. He lost his mother at the age of 10 and his father also died a year later. After this his uncles supported him. Aman’s wrestling started from the mud arenas of Birohar, Haryana.
Later he reached Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi, where his wrestling improved under the guidance of coach Lalit Kumar. Aman was recognized for his fast pace, aggressive style and constant movement wrestling.
Became the youngest Olympic medalist
Aman won bronze in the Under-17 World Championship in 2018 and 2019. In 2019, he also won gold in the Under-17 Asian Championship. In 2022, he won gold in the Under-23 World Championship and Under-23 Asian Championship.
He secured India’s Olympic quota in 57 kg freestyle in the World Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Istanbul in May 2024. Before the Paris Olympics, he was training for about eight hours every day.
Aman achieved the distinction of becoming India’s youngest individual Olympic medalist by winning the bronze medal at Paris 2024.
Comeback from defeat, now Asian Games GOLD
Even after Paris, Aman’s journey was not easy. Due to injury he could not participate in the Asian Championship. After this, he won bronze in the ranking tournament of Mongolia and less than three weeks later, in June 2025, he won gold in the international competition in Turkey.
