Honor X5ds LaunchedSmartphone manufacturer Honor has launched its new handset Honor X5ds in the global market, playing a big bet in the budget segment. The company has made the secondary rear display technology usually seen in premium or foldable smartphones a part of this affordable phone. This phone, which comes with a 2.01 inch touch screen on the back panel, is equipped with a large battery of 6,000mAh.

Honor X5ds: price and availability
Under the global market, the company has first launched it in South Africa. The price of 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant of Honor X5ds has been set at ZAR 2,499. According to Indian currency, this price comes to approximately ₹13,000 ($150 USD).
The company has launched this device in two color options – Forest Green and Midnight Black. The company has not yet fixed any date for its official entry in other Asian markets including India.
Rear Display Features: Why is the back panel of the phone special?
The main attraction of this smartphone is the 2.01 inch secondary LCD display with touch support at the back. This screen is not just a show-piece but handles multiple tasks with ease:
- One-Tap Rear Selfie: Users can click high-quality photos of themselves with the help of the rear screen using the 50MP main camera.
- Call & Notification Alerts: Incoming calls and messages will immediately appear on the screen even when the phone is placed upside down.
- Media Controls: Play, pause or change tracks without turning on the main screen.
Specifications: Display, processor and battery power
Talking about the main specifications of the phone, a 6.78 inch HD + LCD display is provided on the front, which supports 120Hz refresh rate and 600 nits brightness.
Unisoc T610 processor has been used in the phone for performance. It has support for 4GB virtual RAM along with 4GB physical RAM, giving a total capacity of up to 8GB. To increase storage, it has been provided with a triple-card slot, through which a microSD card up to 1TB can be installed.

For photography, a 50MP primary camera (f/1.8 aperture) is provided in the rear of the phone, which comes with 4x digital zoom and LED flash. There is a 5MP sensor on the front for video calling and selfie. Video recording up to 1080p can be done with both cameras.
The phone has a large 6,000mAh battery which supports 15W wired charging. Apart from this, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0 and 3.5mm headphone jack are also included for security.
