There could be some very good news for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli fans. According to information shared by Santokie Nagulendran of the Caribbean Cricket PodcastIndia are set to tour the West Indies in July-August 2027ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The reported tour will feature two Tests, five T20Is and three ODIs. Those three ODIs are particularly exciting for Rohit and Kohli fans because both legends now play only the ODI format at international level.
It means fans could get three more opportunities to watch them in Indian colours, while both batters will also have additional chances to chase some huge milestones before ending their legendary careers.
India vs West Indies 2027 Series
According to the information shared on the Caribbean Cricket Podcast, the tour is expected to consist of:
- 2 Test matches
- 5 T20Is
- 3 ODIs
- Expected window: July-August 2027
The exact dates and venues are yet to be officially confirmed.
The timing could also make the ODI leg important for India’s World Cup preparations. With the 2027 ODI World Cup beginning in Octoberanother competitive series would give India an opportunity to test combinations and provide valuable game time to key players shortly before the tournament.
Can Virat Kohli Reach 100 International Centuries?
Virat Kohli currently has 86 international centuriesincluding 55 ODI hundreds. He therefore needs 14 more centuries to reach the magical landmark of 100 international hundreds.
It will certainly be a difficult target because Kohli now plays only ODIs internationally, making the number of matches available to him increasingly important.
The three reported ODIs against West Indies would give him three additional opportunities to add to his tally. For millions of Kohli fans, watching him somehow complete a century of international centuries before ending his legendary career would be a dream moment.
Rohit Sharma Closing in on 40 ODI Centuries
Rohit Sharma is much closer to another major landmark.
Rohit currently has 35 ODI centuries and needs five more hundreds to complete 40 ODI centuries.
The West Indies ODIs would add three more matches to his schedule and therefore three more opportunities to move towards that landmark before the end of his international career.
Beyond the records, the reported series is simply good news for fans who want to watch Rohit and Kohli for as long as possible. It could also give the two senior batters valuable competitive cricket as India build towards the 2027 World Cup.
