Rohit Pawar warned that if the government did not take any action, more than 1,00,000 students would take to the streets of Pune. The protesters will either completely shut down Pune or take out a big march directly to the ministry in Mumbai.
Rohit Pawar, who was present with the candidates since the first day of the protest, told the media that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to meet the protesting candidates on October 7 or 8. At that time, a huge crowd of thousands of candidates will show their strength on the streets of Pune.
He said, “Pune city may come to a standstill after CJP's Abhijit Dipke's appeal. Now only the MPSC candidates and their parents will decide. At that time, the residents of Pune should support these students.
Rohit Pawar said that the main reason for this movement is the systematic corruption spread in the examination board. He demanded the immediate resignation of MPSC Chairman Vivek Bhimanwar and called for a thorough audit and cleanup of the commission's recruitment processes.
At the same time, BJP leader and Minister of State Nitish Rane appealed to Rohit Pawar not to hold students hostage for political gains. He said that this matter is related to the future of lakhs of students and both the leaders should work together constructively.
Minister Rane said, “This is not a political platform, it is a question of the future of the students. We sit in the ministry for the welfare of the students. Rohit Pawar is my friend. Tomorrow, he can also be a cabinet minister with me in the government. He is a person who praises good works. We will work together for the students. They can continue the protest but they should not take the students hostage.”
On this offer of Minister Rane, Rohit Pawar rejected it as an attempt to divert political attention. He said that the ministers seem nervous due to the increasing public anger against the administration.
Rohit Pawar said, “Instead of giving me a place in the cabinet, they should sit with the students and resolve their issues. If they see us in the government, they should show courage and sit in the opposition now. When our government comes, then we can work together.”
