The Indian women's compound archery team won the gold medal by defeating China on Wednesday (30 September). Team India had also won the title in this event in the last Asiad. The trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikita Taniparthy and Prithika Pradeep successfully defended their title by defeating China 238-234 in the gold medal match, taking India to 9th position in the medal tally.
During this achievement, the Indian team also equaled the world record of South Korea. China's team included Vunier, Yue Wang and Fangyao Wei. He had to be satisfied with silver. India reached the final by defeating South Korea 234-233 in the semi-finals at Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park. South Korea's team of Park Jungeun, Park Yerin and Kang Yeonseo defeated Taiwan and won the bronze medal.

Wrestler Sunil Kumar lost in the semi-finals
India's Greco-Roman wrestler Sunil Kumar has faced defeat in the semi-finals of 87 kg category. He was defeated by Taizo Yoshida of Japan on the basis of technical proficiency. Sunil Kumar will now face Callum Johnston Roberts of Philippines in the bronze medal match.
Sunil had defeated Muhammad Sultanzoda of Tajikistan on the basis of technical proficiency and made it to the semi-finals but he could not overcome the challenge of Yoshida.

Nisha Dahiya lost
Nisha Dahiya has once again faced defeat at the hands of North Korea's Sol Gum Pak. In the pre-quarterfinals of the women's 68 kg category, Nisha had taken a 2-0 lead but Sol Gum Pak scored four points to take a 4-2 lead at the end of the first period. In the second period, Nisha scored two points to level the score at 4-4. After this no wrestler could score points and on the basis of big stakes Sol Gum Pak was declared the winner.
If Pakistan reaches the final, it will open the way for Nisha to return to the medal race through repechage. Nisha also lost to Sol Gum Pak in the quarter-finals of the Paris Olympics. Nisha was leading 8-2 in that match but lost the match 8-10 due to elbow injury.
