Automobile Desk: The demand for electric scooters is increasing rapidly in the Indian two-wheeler market. The biggest fear in the mind of most customers while buying an EV is the age of the battery, its maintenance and expensive replacement cost. Keeping this concern in mind, Ather Energy has launched its family scooter 'Ather Rizta' in the market, which comes with a powerful range as well as a very special battery warranty plan.
Strong performance and speed
The company has given Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) in Ather Razta. This motor generates maximum power of 4.3 kW and torque of 22 Nm. In terms of pickup, this scooter is quite fast and accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in just 4.7 seconds. Its top-speed of 80 kmph proves to be quite practical in city traffic and daily commute.
Battery options and driving range
This electric scooter has two battery pack options as per the needs of the customers – 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh.
2.9 kWh battery: It gives a range of 123 kilometers (IDC) on a single full charge.
3.7 kWh Battery: This large battery pack can travel up to 159 kilometers (IDC) on a single charge.
In terms of safety, both its motor and battery have IP67 rating, due to which there is no risk of battery damage even during rain or dust. The total curb weight of the scooter is 125 kg. It has a seat height of 780 mm and ground clearance of 150 mm. For practical use, it has a large underseat storage of 34 litres, which is enough to keep everyday items.
Braking and suspension setup
To make the ride comfortable, Rizta has been provided with telescopic forks at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear. Talking about braking, there is a combination of 200mm disc brake at the front and drum brake with Combined Braking System (CBS) at the rear. It has 12-inch alloy wheels, which have tubeless tires of 90/90-12 profile at the front and 100/80-12 profile at the rear.
Battery Warranty and Extended Coverage
To ensure long life and safety of the battery, the company has given three types of warranty options:
Standard Warranty: Provides coverage up to 5 years or 60,000 kms, with battery health assured at more than 70%.
Eight70 Plan: This is an add-on plan, under which the warranty limit increases to 8 years or 80,000 kms.
10 Year Premium Plan: Through the AtherStack Pro ecosystem, customers can extend their battery protection up to 10 years or 1 lakh kilometers. During this period at least 70% battery health is guaranteed.
Price and Variants
The starting ex-showroom price of the base model 'Rizta S' of Ather Rizta starts at Rs 1,21,999. Whereas the starting price of its top model 'Rizta Z' has been kept at Rs 1,36,999. The price for its top configuration goes up to Rs 1,59,378 (ex-showroom), depending on different battery capacity, accessories and extra features.
