Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 25 years of political leadership. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi congratulated the successful journey.
Takaichi sent his best wishes in a lengthy post on the social media platform. He said that PM Modi has worked for the development of Indian society and nation for a long time and has taken India’s prestige to new heights on the international stage. He expressed hope that both the countries will continue to work together for public welfare in the times to come.
In his message, the Japanese Prime Minister said, “As Chief Minister since 2001, PM Modi has demonstrated excellent political leadership for a long time. On the occasion of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi completing 25 years as the head of the government, I would like to extend my best wishes to him.”
Takaichi also recalled his visit to India in July and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received from Prime Minister Modi. He said, “During the visit, he got the opportunity to know the food culture and music of India closely. Also, concrete steps were discussed with PM Modi to take the India-Japan ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership’ to the next level.”
He said that next year will be the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Japan. This is an important milestone for the relations between the two countries.
Takaichi further said, “To achieve the goal of ‘Free and Open Indo-Pacific’ (FOIP), I want to work closely with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi so that Japan and India, who have similar strategic direction, can further advance their partnership.”
Prime Minister Modi was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for the first time on 7 October 2001. He then assumed the post of Prime Minister in 2014 and led the government at the national level in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections. On Wednesday, PM Modi also offered prayers at Shri Vinayak Temple in Delhi on the occasion of his 25 years of public leadership.
India and Japan are strengthening their relations beyond the strategic partnership to the broader areas of economic security, energy, technology, defense and Indo-Pacific cooperation. In the annual summit meeting of PM Modi and Takaichi in July, both the countries had emphasized on further strengthening the ‘Special Strategic and Global Partnership’.
