Monsoon gone, yet rain continues; Alert in 16 districts

Bhopal. Even after the departure of monsoon from Madhya Pradesh, the weather has not completely cleared. Due to the active system over the state, rain, thunder and strong wind may continue in many districts of the eastern part for the next three days.

On Wednesday, there are chances of rain in 16 districts including Jabalpur, Rewa, Satna, Shahdol, while in the western parts including Bhopal and Indore, there will be strong sunshine during the day and the night temperature will remain cool.

The weather pattern has changed in East Madhya Pradesh for the last two days. On Tuesday, it rained in many areas of Rewa, Shahdol and Sagar divisions.

According to the Meteorological Center Bhopal, cyclonic circulation is active over the state, due to which rain activities are being seen.

During the next 24 hours, rain and thundershowers are expected in Jabalpur, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Maihar, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Dindori, Anuppur, Mandla and Balaghat.

Storm and strong wind may also blow in some areas. Even on October 8 and 9, the effect of rain is likely to remain mainly in East Madhya Pradesh. After this, the system is likely to weaken from October 10.

At present there will be less rain activity in the western part of the state. There is a possibility of strong sunshine during the day in Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram along with Gwalior and Chambal divisions.

However, the weather will remain cold at night. According to the Meteorological Department, in the data of the last 10 years, all three types of weather – rain, heat and cold – have been seen during October.

A similar trend is expected this year also. With the weather becoming clear in the beginning of October, the sunshine has increased during the day, while the night temperature is falling.

The effect of drop in night temperature is visible in many cities. The minimum temperature recorded in Indore on Tuesday night was 17.2 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature was 18 degrees in Pachmarhi, 18.2 degrees in Chhindwara, 18.3 degrees in Shajapur and 18.9 degrees Celsius in Amarkantak-Karaundi.

On the contrary, the effect of heat persists during the day. The maximum temperature in Gwalior remains above 37 degrees Celsius.

This year, the south-west monsoon remained active in Madhya Pradesh for about 100 days. Monsoon had entered the state on 24th June and it departed from entire Madhya Pradesh on 3rd October.

A total of 908.4 mm or 35.8 inches of rainfall was recorded in the state during the monsoon season, which is 1.5 inches less than the normal rainfall of 949.5 mm or 37.3 inches.

Thus, this time the total rainfall in the state was about 4 percent less than normal. Eastern Madhya Pradesh received 4 percent more rainfall than normal, while the western part received 12 percent less rainfall than average.

The total rainfall in Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar and Shahdol divisions of Eastern Madhya Pradesh was 4 percent more than normal. However, rainfall deficiency was recorded in some districts of these divisions.

Balaghat, Chhindwara, Damoh, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Pandhurna, Rewa, Sagar and Seoni received 5 to 21 percent less rainfall than normal. Monsoon remained weak in many districts of the western part.

Alirajpur, Ashoknagar, Barwani, Betul, Dewas, Dhar, Harda, Indore, Jhabua, Khandwa, Mandsaur, Morena, Narmadapuram, Neemuch, Raisen, Ratlam, Sehore, Shajapur, Ujjain and Vidisha recorded 9 to 51 percent less rainfall than normal.

The quota of rain during monsoon remained complete in 25 districts of the state. These include Bhopal, Rajgarh, Burhanpur, Khargone, Katni, Mandla, Dindori, Gwalior, Guna, Datia, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari and Maihar.

Apart from this, normal rains were recorded in Agar-Malwa, Bhind, Sheopur, Singrauli, Sidhi, Satna, Mauganj, Shahdol, Umaria and Anuppur. According to monsoon data, rainfall was less than normal in 30 districts of the state.

These include Narsinghpur, Damoh, Balaghat, Ashoknagar, Morena, Mandsaur, Khandwa, Barwani, Neemuch, Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar, Dewas, Seoni, Sehore, Shivpuri and Raisen.

Apart from these, rainfall figures were also behind normal in Chhindwara, Vidisha, Shajapur, Pandhurna, Indore, Ujjain, Betul, Harda, Narmadapuram, Ratlam, Jhabua, Dhar and Alirajpur.
