Well-known actor of Marathi and Hindi cinema Nana Patekar passed away on Thursday (8 October). He was 75 years old. He suffered a massive heart attack at his home in Goa. After this he was admitted to the hospital; But despite the efforts of the doctors, he could not be saved. His demise has spread grief in the Marathi and Hindi film industry.
According to the information, when Nana Patekar was at his home in Goa, he started having severe chest pain. After this a medical team reached his house. At that time Nana Patekar was found unconscious. He was immediately given first aid and taken to Manipal Hospital for further treatment.
The doctors of the hospital tried to save him for about 45 minutes. But the treatment had no effect. After this, he was declared dead at around 5.20 am. A medico-legal case has been registered in this matter and information about further medical procedures has been given.
Journey from theater to cinema
Nana Patekar created a distinct identity in Marathi and Hindi cinema with his acting. His acting depth, dialogue delivery and style of completely getting into the characters helped him create a firm place in the minds of the audience.
His roles in Hindi films like 'Parinda', 'Krantiveer', 'Agnisakshi', 'Ab Tak Chhappan', 'Yashwant' as well as in Marathi films like 'Natsamrat' became especially popular. The character of Ganpatrao Belwalkar in 'Natsamrat' brought a different level of his acting in front of the audience.
Along with acting, Nana Patekar also worked in direction. He directed the film 'Prahar: The Final Attack'. During his long career, he has received many important honors including National Awards. In 2013, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri Award.
