Canadian writer honored
In Stockholm, renowned Canadian author and poet Ann Carson has been awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize for Literature. The Nobel Committee has honored him for his works in which he combines ancient Greek and Roman literature with modern life, love, relationships and grief. The committee said that Carson's specialty is that she does not merely reproduce old stories, but adds her own imagination and contemporary sentiments to them.
unique style of writing
The Nobel Committee also said that in Carson's works the boundaries of poetry, story and essay are sometimes blurred, which makes his writing appear different from other writers. Ann Carson was born in Toronto, Canada in 1950, and studied ancient Greek and Roman literature. In 1981, he published his doctoral thesis on the same topic.
