Mark Chapman and Jack Foulkes out of T20 series against India

Christchurch. New Zealand batsman Mark Chapman and all-rounder Jack Foulkes have been ruled out of the upcoming five-match home T20 International series against India due to injury. New Zealand Cricket confirmed this on Friday, October 9.

Chapman suffered a left thigh muscle injury during the European T20 Premier League last month. He is expected to be fit for the ODI series against India.

At the same time, Foulkes recently suffered a right hip muscle injury during a practice session in Canterbury. The deadline for his return to the field has not been decided yet.

New Zealand has included all-rounder Josh Clarkson in place of Chapman and fast bowler Blair Tickner in place of Faulks in the T20 team.

New Zealand head coach Rob Walter expressed disappointment over the injuries to both players and wished them a speedy recovery.

He said, “I am very saddened by the injuries to Mark and Jack. I wish both of them a speedy and smooth recovery.”

He further said, “We are fortunate to have the opportunity to take advantage of the experience of Josh and Blair. I know both of them are extremely excited to be involved in this series. It is going to be a great T20 series.”

The first match of the five-match T20 International series between India and New Zealand will be played in Christchurch on October 22.
